Here’s your latest Kenny Werner Video!
It’s from a performance at the Fulkerson Recital Hall
at the Redwood Jazz Alliance in northern California
Here’s what one reviewer had to say about this concert:
“Many were dazzled by Villela’s five-octave range and her ingeniously percussive vocal gymnastics. She and Werner are improvisational soulmates, and their considerable talents and uncanny rapport guaranteed a sublime evening of lyrical and sparkling duets.”
Enjoy!
Again, here’s the link to the venue:

Thank You so very much for this ! I’ve been recently involved in a vocal-piano duo situation – the singer and I have been working with each other for 7 years now, but only as of the last 10 months have we been in a situation where there’s no band and only the two of us – and predictably, I’ve been in a predicament ! Without the safety backup of a rhythm section, I’ve essentially been floundering, and the singer ( who is a truly great musician and performer ) has been suffering terribly as a result ! The question of how I should approach this gig has been answered in a Telewebinar ( I forget the number ) when someone asked Mr.Werner a question directly related to how a singer should be accompanied, and Mr.Werner, in his reply, spoke about ( first of all ) the need for the accompanist to have the right attitude – and then, the approach required musically – and this video is a direct and practical demonstration of what he spoke about in that Telewebinar – it’s fantastic – I have Thanked You earlier on more than one occasion, but I cannot refrain from doing it again now ! For this video, as well as the early one that you sent ( The Effortless Mastery Workshop on Free Jazz Part 2 ) – as soon as I manage to save the money, the first order of business for me is to get The Effortless Mastery DVD – Not that it is expensive – in fact, to be able to obtain an educational video from Mr.Werner, imparting that Wisdom, that is so very difficult to come into contact with – at that low price, is illegal !
Please keep up the Good Work, and God Bless.
