To the dysfunctional learner, of which there are many in the jazz
educational system (you may be one of them),
the Effortless Mastery exercises I have developed
will mean cutting through miles of books, exercises, and priorities
laid on you year after year.
It will help you to get in touch with the next step in your development,
putting all the theories, politics, and fashions aside
while focusing on your life, and the personal meaning music has to you.
In many cases, the decision to study music has robbed you
of the ability to play music.
You lose respect for music that might come from inside because
you are no programmed to feel “unworthy.”
Some parts of this Effortless Mastery way of being
will help you back to loving and honoring
yourself, with or without music!
Even many great professionals suffer from low self-esteem
and other negative illusions.
If you are one of the people who practices things that never
surface in your playing, and there are many, I offer concrete
reasons why, and a way out of this dilemma.
The Way of Effortless Mastery also contemplates the relationship
of belief systems to effectiveness and how we “practice for mediocrity.”
Are you practicing The Steps every day?
Even for five minutes?
Are you practicing for Effortless Mastery, or mediocrity?
Thank you for being here as part of our Effortless Mastery Community.
