On the Second Wednesday of each month,
artist and television host Bokara Legendre
engages leading ethicists, scientists, and philosophers
in a dialogue on the meaning of consciousness,
as part of a major Rubin Museum of Art initiative
called BRAINWAVE: Sacred Science

Bokara Legendre is an artist, writer and performer.

Her 13-episode Lunch with Bokara (with Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield, Jon Kabat Zinn, Jacob Needleman and others)
was aired on LinkTV and screened at RMA twice.

Bokara produced and hosted talk shows on the CBS station in Washington D.C. and on KQED,
the local PBS station in San Francisco.

She had her own radio column on WNYC and has worked as a reporter for
The New York Times, the North American Newspaper Alliance,
and the Charleston News and Courier.

Her long time interest in shamanism, native traditions and Eastern spiritual disciplines
has led her to investigate the wisdom of many cultures and their related sciences.

She is presently writing a humorous memoir about her spiritual search.

Jazz pianist, composer, author, and Grammy Award nominee Kenny Werner has received
performance grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and written compositions
for the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and big bands such as the Cologne Radio Jazz Orchestra (WDR),
the Danish Radio Jazz Orchestra, The Metropole Orchestra (Holland), and the Umo Jazz Orchestra (Finland).

In 1999, he formed a trio with drummer Ari Hoenig and bassist Johannes Wiedenmueller.
Together, they have released three CDs: Form and Fantasy, Beat Degeneration and Peace, and Live at the Blue Note.
In 2007, he released Lawn Chair Society on Blue Note Records.

Werner’s book, Effortless Mastery, chronicles the physical, technical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of being an artist.

He currently teaches his own techniques in classes at New York University.

Werner made his Rubin Museum of Art concert debut in the regular Friday night Harlem in the Himalayas series in May last year.
